Cyclist from Forest Park Cycles 312 Miles to Marion
Bill Meyer of Forest Park Illinois rode 312 miles to Marion Ohio in a grueling trek despite rain wind and traffic. He averaged about 150 miles daily and completed the trip from Wednesday to late Friday night as part of the Sixth Annual Sesquicentennial Bicycle Tour involving 300 cyclists from six states. He will ride 150 miles across central Ohio this weekend.

Norwalk Public Schools report August enrollment at 3100, down from 3126 in 1976, continuing a five-year slide from a high of 3300 in 1972 due to a declining birth rate. St Paul parochial enrollment rose slightly with 859 in high school and 172 in St Marys. Elementary gains come from new kindergarten classes.

Michigan safety patrol hero to receive award for bridge rescue
An 11 year old safety patrol member who led kindergartners to safety as a crane struck a pedestrian overpass will be honored with a special program award. Six children aged 8 to 11 were injured as a 15 foot span collapsed onto a four lane highway. The crane was owned by Spartan Asphalt Co. and was working on nearby road subcontracting. John Ryerse helped children down from the intact portion and kept the area clear until police blocked the site.
