Dr Samuel H Sheppard will face a second degree murder trial October 18 in the same Cleveland courtroom as his 1954 trial. A venue change is not anticipated. The ruling comes as authorities prepare for the proceedings.
Washington officials signal a possible across-the-board increase in personal and corporate income taxes to curb inflation if Viet Nam war costs keep climbing. Treasury Secretary Fowler urged approval of Johnson’s anti inflation measures during testimony before the Ways and Means Committee.
Justice Minister B J Vorster was named to succeed the late Hendrik F Verwoerd as prime minister. He pledged to continue Verwoerd's policies of strict racial segregation in South Africa.

The bi county Community Action Commission approved a 56 680 budget for anti poverty programs in Erie and Huron counties. In Cincinnati a 38 year old workman, Robert Earl Grice, died after being knocked from a wrecking ball by a swinging beam at the Fountain Square Building demolition site. Police reported witnesses saw the accident.
The Huron County Chapter of the Red Cross collected 139 pints of blood on Monday. Five-gallon donor Earl Braden of Wakeman and four-gallon donor Pauline Woodward of Norwalk were highlighted. Jean Chapin of Collins Cleo Wedman and Richard Schlegelmilch of Norwalk became three-gallon donors. Norwalk residents Valentine Ward Norbert Bauman Danny Ballard and Daniel Riley joined as one-gallon donors.
