Plane overshoots runway on Rattle Snake Island

A rented Cessna 150 overshot a runway on Rattle Snake Island and sank in Lake Erie. Pilot Jack Charles Meier 31 and passenger Walter McLaughlin 28 escaped injury.

Power To Be Off Briefly On Tuesday

A new substation on the city electrical system will be connected Tuesday morning. Service Director Morley Price said businesses in the northwest area along the New York Central tracks will be without power briefly as the Pleasant Street substation is integrated. The outage should last about five minutes starting at 8 a.m.

Peace Corpsman Cleared in Tanzania Wife Killing Trial

UPI reports Peace Corpsman William H. Kinsey was found innocent of murdering his wife Peverley near Maswa Tanzania. Two assessors ruled in his favor though final judge approval and potential appeal to the East African Supreme Court remain. Kinsey claimed a picnic accident caused fatal injuries from a fall off a 20 foot boulder.

Injunction Sought Over Norwalk Bypass Right Of Way

Owners of property east of Route 20 seek a court injunction to halt further construction on the bypass project and demand 250000 in damages from the state. The Kludings of RD 1 Old State Road and Paul and Patricia Klading of Des Moines filed in Huron County Common Pleas to stop work by Donald H Timmer and all Highway Department staff. An appropriation case is pending with a jury to set the purchase price.
