Celeryville Muck District Seeds Water Management Era
The Celeryville Con servancy District emerged from the mid-1940s Muck School as muckland growers pursued water control to curb subsidence and flood risk. With federal and state aid, the 1953 formation led to a 75-acre reservoir and expanded Marsh Run improvements, enabling gravity water-table control and levees. Preproject celery fields had strong yields. 1950s gains projected to rise from about $500 an acre to several million dollars in gross revenue.

Why Milk and Bread Prices Have Risen
Ohio State University Extension economist Dr. Bruce Marion notes a mix of tight 1966 supplies, lower storage, and higher costs and lower profits in marketing lift food prices. Beef and pork peaks drove higher poultry demand and dairy herd culling, trimming milk supply by about 5 percent and raising producer prices by 1 to 1-1/2 cents per quart.
