The Yellow Springs Village Council plans to send a letter to President Nixon and Wright-Patterson AFB to protest alleged arbitrary security measures during the $5.7 million air force museum dedication. About 8,000 attended as 60 people were removed by riot troops. protesters were detained but not arrested and released after Nixon left.

Alaska Airlines 727 crash claims 111 lives in Alaska mountains
Rescue workers began removing bodies from a steep Alaska mountainside after a Alaska Airlines 727 crashed into a 3,500 foot peak in wet fog. Officials recovered two instruments from the wreckage that may explain the cause. All 104 passengers and seven crew members perished.

First court-ordered busing protest arrests in Pontiac
Nine mothers were arrested as Pontiac began the first northern city desegregation busing. About 100 pickets formed a wall to block buses, police moved in with paddy wagon, and several protesters were chained to gates. Judge Keith had ordered on schedule with marshals present.

Area Youth James E Giles Dies In Truck Fall
James E Giles 18 of Collins died after falling from the back of a pickup on Shaw Mill Road near Milan. He died at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital at 1 45 p m. The driver Paul D Schaffer 18 of Norwalk was rounding a curve when Giles fell from the truck bed while sitting on the edge. Giles was a Norwalk High School graduate and member of St Paul Catholic Church and the Drifters 4 H Saddle Club. Funeral arrangements are pending with Heaston Hile Funeral Home.

Norwalk police investigate an early Sunday incident involving Edward Miller a Cleveland man and his wife and three daughters eight six and four who were in a car behind Reservoir Two. Chutist Injured At Festival At Milan Melon Event
Dan Harding of Cleveland was critically injured when his parachute lines broke and he landed in a tree near Huron and Wilcox in Milan during a Melon Festival exhibition. He suffered a fractured left leg and other injuries and is in Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital. Another parachutist Lou Penderton hit a tree and missed power lines, while Big John Guzzy landed on a building. Winds were reported above 40 miles per hour and the team had been cleared to jump only if under 35 mph.
