Two professors and a computer devised a method to write campaign speeches tailored to crowd reactions. In a Peoria test, sixty people evaluated stances on foreign affairs to shape excerpts. The aim is pretest speeches to avoid missteps and create a perfected political message.

St Bernard Produces Record 17 Puppies in Seven Hours
Wickliffe Brown Sugar a two year old St Bernard gave birth to 17 puppies in seven hours. The American Kennel Club confirmed the world record beating the previous 16 puppy mark in the working class. Male and female pups totaled 10 and 7. mother Tammi Bodnar said one prior litter produced two puppies. Dr. T L Schwartz reported mother and pups doing fine.

Flu Vaccines Administered at Huron County Clinics
The Huron County Health Department reports 2879 residents have received flu vaccine at public clinics. Of these 1256 got monovalent swine flu vaccine and 1623 received bivalent swine flu and Type A Victoria vaccine. Clinics run Saturday and Sunday at South Central High School Greenwich from 1 to 6 pm.

Galion Boy Killed While Going Trick Or Treating
A Galion area boy, John Michael Patton, 9, was struck by an eastbound car on Ohio 19 while trick or treating near his home. He died en route to Galion Community Hospital. Police say the driver Robert E Sharrock, 52, of Bucyrus lost control after striking the boy and the road brought the body under the wheels. He attended Reschville Elementary and was a Cub Scout. Funeral services are scheduled at Snyder and Kubach Funeral Home in Galion with burial at Fairview Cemetery.

The witching hour begins at 6 p.m. Saturday as Norwalk and the city kick off the annual Halloween Parade on Main Street from the library to the high schools.
