Norwalk Halloween Parade Set for Sunday Evening

The Norwalk Jaycees plan a 7 p.m. parade Sunday with 6 30 p m assembly at Case Street lot opposite the public library. Prizes for best costumes and candy for participants. Jerry Egle is chairman. Trick or treating Monday night runs 7 to 9 with lights-on homes only.

Hulman Dies. Indianapolis 500 founder remembered

Tony Hulman, 76, who pitched the Indianapolis 500 into a global spectacle with his radio call Gentlemen start your engines, died Thursday night. He bought the speedway in 1945 for 250000 and took full control in 1954, after starring in Yale football and track and achieving hurdling fame.

Lifelong Buddies Die In Head On Auto Crash

Two Collins men Rick Urbansky 22 and Frankie Heitsche 23 died in a late Thursday head on collision on Chenango Road near New London. Affected survivors include Ricky Harner and Russell Cook both 16, hospitalized in serious to fair condition. The crash site lies about 2.2 miles south of Ohio 18. Funeral services to be announced.

United Way Campaign Off To Slow Start In area

Campaign chairman Tom Woodyard reports pledges totaling 2423 so far with a goal of 91790 and a campaign that began October 10. Kroger Co and T A Thrift T Mart report 100 percent participation. Other pledges come from William Dauch Concrete Rotary Printing Stokely Van Camp and Wappler Instrument Co plus local professionals retailers and the Elks Lodge. Special gifts totaling 3232 are pledged.

FBI Doubts Skeleton Hoffa In Pennsylvania Find

State Issue 2 supporters faced strong spending limits as opponents reported six to one spending advantage, with opponents using 396,230 dollars to back the ban and proponents about 61,000 through October 19.
