OSU Student Spends Nights In Coffin for Challenge

Frank Fioritto, a Ohio State University student, has slept in a coffin in his Morrill Tower dorm suite for three nights. The room features organ music, red lights, a kneeler, and visiting hours from 8 to 11 pm. A Bible rests on his chest as he relaxes in the coffin, saying he enjoys challenges.

First Lady's new press secretary Connie Stuart

Connie Stuart of Wheeling West Virginia held her first press briefing as the new press secretary and staff director for Mrs Nixon. She said her first loyalty is to Mrs Nixon and her second loyalty is to the press. Also introduced by Mrs Nixon was Stephanie Wilson of Wayne New Hampshire as secretary and administrative assistant. John J Gilligan eyes governor job or another Senate bid after addressing Eastmoor High School in Columbus day event with release stating students chose him over Rhodes and Glenn.

Two Northern Ohio Men Face Court Over Liquor Smuggling

Carl J. Walski of Huron and John Johnson of Berlin Heights were arrested by Liquor Department agents in a Lake Erie crossing case. Authorities confiscated 124 bottles of whiskey and malt liquor from Walski’s 23 foot inboard boat. State Liquor Director Donald D. Cook called it the largest single interception since the enforcement boat began operating.

Rhodes Cleared Of Payoff Claims In Licavoli Case

The Ohio Highway Patrol found no evidence that money was paid or offered to obtain a sentence reduction for mobster Thomas Yonnie Licavoli. Gov. Rhodes had earlier reduced Licavoli’s murder conviction to second degree, making him eligible for parole. Licavoli, 65, was jailed for life in 1934 over four Toledo-Detroit area gangland murders.

Bread Truck Hit By Freight Train Near Greenwich

Walter Parsons 20 of Spencer Ohio was struck by a southwest bound B and O freight train while delivering bread along Alpha Road near Greenwich. He survived with facial lacerations after the truck was dragged 100 feet and the wreckage spread over 750 feet.
