Milan councilmen ended a brief marijuana display at the police station by snipping the tiny plant from its white pot. Police Chief Gary Limbird said the plant was a courteous exhibit given by a citizen to show what marijuana looks like.
An 18 year old college freshman from Brunswick waived a preliminary hearing in Medina for four counts of aggravated murder in the Sunday night death of his father Donald Swihart his mother Sue and brothers Brian and Russell whose charred bodies were found in a burned home. His attorneys plan a plea of innocent or innocent by reason of insanity. In Washington the Senate began consideration of the energy tax bill but failed to grant prompt approval urged by President Carter as liberals seek to strip billions in tax breaks for business.
Totie Fields, who battled illnesses including a left leg amputation, had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from her right breast. The operation was a complete success and she should be discharged in about five days, according to hospital public relations director Susan Wait.
The space shuttle Enterprise is set for its last test flight in the Mojave Desert watched by Prince Charles. The 75 ton craft will detach from a modified jet, perform a high speed dive and a fast brake landing ending the approach and landing test phase before moving to Huntsville for vibration tests. It will be rebuilt for orbital use as the fifth shuttle, with delivery to Cape Canaveral planned in the mid 1980s.

Seven jurors in a six week drug case in Cincinnati reported phone calls urging conviction. Judge Carl B Rubin sequestered the panel and asked the FBI to investigate. A male caller urged jurors to "do a service to your country" by removing the dope peddlers. Ten defendants face trial in southwestern Ohio on related charges.
The latest suit, filed in Huron County Common Pleas Court by Anna M and Michael DeWitt of Willard against Michael and Gerald Bonham of Plymouth, seeks 75 000 for Anna DeWitts injuries after a May 16 crash that killed Raymond Enzor. Earlier actions include a 10 million suit by Gerald Dannemiller and a 4.9 million claim by Randy Bonham, with multiple defendants and related filings.
About 150 farmers rode tractors and trucks along Interstate 15 near Sun City California for an hour protesting government over regulation rising costs and low farm prices. CHP halted traffic at times to let cars pass. Protesters cited 200 percent tax increases and inflation impacting farm inputs and bread prices.

In Tulsa Oklahoma Houdini a bat known for escapes in Washington High School biology class slipped free twice from a bird cage. After a suspected rabies scare teacher Ted Schupbach sealed the bat in two sacks and placed it in a refrigerator for health checks.
Detroit officials report a second major crackdown on unvaccinated schoolchildren is reducing exemptions. Thousands of elementary pupils barred from class due to missing shots are expected to return by week end.
