Australian pilot vanishes as UFO report looms
Investigators launched an air search for Frederick Valentich after he radioed a UFO with four green lights chasing his Cessna 182 over Bass Strait. Air force planes found an oil slick north of King Island, but officials said it was not from a light aircraft. Valentich had 18 months of flight time in pursuit of a commercial license, and his father noted UFO interest but offered no proof of a connection.
