Good News for Duck Hunters in Norwalk Area

The duck and geese hunting season opens with reports of abundant waterfowl in Norwalk area areas including Memorial and Upper Reservoirs and Sandusky marshes. Daily bag four ducks five geese with limits on Wood Duck Canvasback Mallard white-fronted Canadian Geese blue goose and others. Federal duck stamps temporarily unavailable. licenses available through Conservation Club and County Clerk of Courts.

Norwalk Man Sues Norwalk Truck Lines for $50 000

Raymond Fallecker Jr of Norwalk has filed a $50 000 damage suit in Huron County Common Pleas Court against Norwalk Truck Lines. He alleges a truck ran a red light at Rt 20 and Rt 4 in June 1963, injuring him as a passenger when the car he rode in was struck on the side while turning onto Rt 4. He says the injuries are permanent.

Norwalk Truckers star leads on field in big win

Fullback Kevin Conry powered the Norwalk High School Truckers to victory on Friday night. Across the world in Aberfan Wales, grief rose as a coal slag disaster claimed at least 107 lives, with many children among the dead and hundreds injured or missing. Rescue crews faced dangerous, collapsing slag as officials warned of further danger and hoped for survivors.

Former Area Man Falls From Pole

Willard resident Carl Burkhalter 43 is in fair condition at Willard Municipal Hospital after a 40 foot fall from a power pole Friday. He suffered a broken back fractured ribs possible internal injuries and shock while working for Hoosier Construction Co for Ohio Power Co at the Pioneer Rubber Plant. He recently started with Hoosier a month ago and the cause of the fall is not known.

Grade separation planned at Route 18 Norwalk junction

Officials confirm a grade separated interchange will be built at the Route 18 and Norwalk Route 20 Bypass intersection with bids to be let early in 1967. Completion of both bypass and overpass projected by Oct. 31, 1967, despite initial reports of a grade crossing.
