Senator Birch Bayh announces his candidacy for President as the ninth Democratic hopeful. The formal statement follows an earlier reveal at his Shirkieville birthplace near Terre Haute.
Rescue crews cut through wreckage after a collision involving two trains on Mexico City's modern subway. Officials say 26 people died and 55 were hurt as a second train crashed into a stalled one near Viaducto station.
An FBI agent testified that he destroyed a note from Lee Harvey Oswald two hours after Oswald was killed. He said the note apparently had no connection to the Kennedy assassination of November 22, 1963, and was destroyed on orders from a superior.
