Mopeds Defined for Ohio Youth Vision and Limits
The Ohio Department of Highway Safety warns that some marketed motorized bicycles exceed moped specifications. Mopeds may carry 14 or 15 year olds with a special license. they must have at most one horsepower, 50 cc displacement, and 20 mph on level ground. Any faster vehicle is a motorcycle requiring a driver's license. There are 40 approved moped makes. Contact the Columbus office for details.
