City Employees Seek 10 Percent Pay Hike In Talks
Negotiations opened Monday night between city officials and safety forces over a 10 percent wage increase. Two options were offered: a 15 percent raise for one year or 10 to 12 percent over two years. Current starting pay is 11,414 for patrolmen and gear for captains, sergeants, and lieutenants. The city rejects a cost of living clause and holiday escalator ideas while considering a higher clothing allowance and broader insurance benefits. Contracts expire December 31 with no set negotiation deadline.
