Peru reports 87 dead and over 3,000 injured after offshore quake that triggered a Pacific tidal wave. Alerts in Hawaii and U.S. West Coast were canceled as the wave dissipated.

Ohio water commission unveils a 40 year plan for 9 144 square mile Northwest Ohio. The draft calls for upground storage reservoirs elevated lakes a lake Erie pipeline system test drilling stream monitoring levees flood protection and reservoir storage to sustain flow during droughts. Burgess Niple led consulting on the public bond funded plan with 2 million dollars set aside.
President Johnson leaves Honolulu for Manila for a Pacific trip aimed at personal diplomacy to ease Far East tensions. He warns patience is needed for Viet Nam policy and emphasizes unity while refueling in Pago Pago and heading to Wellington. The trip spans 25 000 miles over 17 days with large public welcomes.
The government won a Taft Hartley injunction to force GE Evendale Ohio workers back to work at the plant producing Phantom jet engines for Viet Nam. Judge Weinman granted the order as part of an 80 day cooling off period affecting more than 6,000 workers amid possible broader actions.
Judge Weinman imposed a ten day temporary restraining order against the strikers. The order requires a permanent ruling at its expiration to end the dispute linked to the machinists and auto workers unions.

President Johnson signs a bill raising federal insurance on savings accounts from 10 000 to 15 000 at all commercial banks and savings and loan associations. The increase applies to claims after signing and is the first raise since 1950.
U S commanders in Saigon ordered military police to disperse crowds and increase anti terror actions after Communist attacks over 24 hours left 10 dead and about 70 wounded. Reports say President Johnson may visit South Vietnam during his Far East tour. A grenade exploded at a bus stop near an American billet injuring five GIs and another grenade hit a rural movie theater.
Bargaining between 550 IAM Local 215 members at the Bellevue Lamp Plant of General Electric and management stalls as federal mediator Harry Grey works to resolve a walkout. The union seeks across the board raises job security promotion and layoff safeguards while the plant offers four percent raise first year and three percent in each of the next two years. No word from the mediating room as of 11 a m.
The Norwalk City Council meets tonight at 7 30 in council chambers for the second reading of an ordinance creating a new city wage scale. Councilman Allen Hakes had it placed on first reading at the last meeting for study. Brennan Stone, 30, Monroeville RD 2, is in fair to good condition after a severe industrial accident at Janesville Cottom Mills. His right hand and forearm were badly mangled when his hand was caught in a textile machine. He was transported to Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital by Kubach Smith ambulance with police escort around 3 p.m. Monday.
The annual banquet for Huron County Safety Council members their wives and guests begins at 6 30 tonight at the Elks Country Club. Sponsored by the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio State Division of Safety and Hygiene. Fred Lewis of the Dayton Safety Council will speak.
Testimony proceeded in a $4,000 civil case filed by Herman M. Haupricht of Greenwich against Arthur Heck of Heck's Flying Service at Willard. The hanger collapse during a March 1964 storm damaged Haupricht's plane. Heck and nearby owner Carl Zeigler testified the plane was upside down after the danger had passed.
