Wealthy field hands linked to drug trade in Starr County
A UPI report quotes a Texas law enforcement official claiming a new local Mafia rose in Starr County near the Mexico border. He says drug profits flood the area, converting poor field workers into affluent homeowners and drivers of luxury cars, with the IRS seen as the likely enforcement channel. The official notes low local income and easy cross border trafficking, while IRS declined comment.
