Norwalk Plans Student Survey On Sex Drugs In Schools

A state sponsored survey will test seventh and twelfth graders in Norwalk on sex drugs alcohol tobacco and human development. The district was chosen by random sampling and tests will be given November 6 or soon after with input from the board on pretest copies. The board also hired four new teachers approved an annuity program and approved library renovations.

Chamber Elects Six Directors for Three Year Terms

The Chamber of Commerce has elected six new directors to three-year terms. Re-elected are Harlon Jennings and Walter Kuhlman representing industry, Donald Blosser and Tom Paffenbarger representing professions and services, Robert Berry and George Schild from retail. The Court of Appeals upheld Gary Freddie Stanley's 120 year sentence for two Norwalk burglaries. Stanley claimed Asst. Prosecutor Ronald Freeman coerced a guilty plea with a 400 year threat. His post conviction petition was denied by Judge Robert Vetter and the case advanced on appeal.
