Wood for Norwalk High School Homecoming was found ablaze at 3 a.m. at Whitney Field where 15 foot high stacked logs awaited an 8 p.m. bonfire. Principal Frank MacDonald expressed uncertainty about arson and students scramble to rebuild.

Washington reports the Postal Service will launch express mail offering guaranteed same day or next day delivery, with pickup and delivery at extra cost and up to 70 pound parcels. A Perkins school bus carrying 27 passengers wrecked after a bee distracted the driver, sending the bus into a ditch and into a telephone pole. Names of executives cited. Justice Department seeks civil injunction. penalties up to one year and $50,000 per individual, $50,000 per corporation.
Norwalk High School hosts a Homecoming bonfire at Whitney Field tonight at 8 o clock. Students and community members are invited to participate in the event marking homecoming activities for the school.
Twenty four workers walked off their second shift jobs at NorStat on Wednesday night in protest of wages and conditions. Manuel Nunes, a plant employee, said strikers set up picket lines and seek a raise from 2.50 to 3.00 an hour plus sanitary improvements. The plant, which makes thermostats, remained operating and nonunion.
