High winds downed and twisted power lines cutting electricity for up to 45 minutes in parts of Ola at GS Winds. Lines were reported in front of 17 W Chestnut and 15 Walnut, with twisted lines near Boxboard Packaging on Ontario Street affecting the area. In a separate note, 700 Northern Ohio Telephone Co. plant and traffic department employees are to learn today if their one year contract ends their week old strike, with a vote tabulated at Local 986 IBEW San dusky headquarters under Harold Sell, after a management union negotion.

A winter storm spread heavy snow across northern Wisconsin and Minnesota while showers and thunderstorms hit central Wisconsin and lower Michigan. Tornado-like winds damaged buildings in north Louisiana, including Marksville and Bastrop, with no injuries reported.
