Lucas County Juvenile Court officials arranged tours of the Mansfield State Reformatory to show juvenile offenders the potential environment they face if they continue on their current path. Judge Andy Devine and Superintendent Frank Gray launched the program inspired by Rahway State Prison in New Jersey to stress the consequences of crime. After several returns over six months, officials will assess the project’s impact on youth attitudes.

Health Commissioner Sparks Hospitalized in Huron County
Huron County Health Commissioner Dr. Howard C. Sparks was hospitalized Saturday for breathing difficulties at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital, after being taken there by Norwalk ambulance staff. He spent Saturday and Sunday in intensive then regular care and was listed in satisfactory condition, with expected release and return to work soon. Sparks became full-time commissioner in July after three years as part time.
