A crowded bus slammed into a truck on the Karachi Hyderabad highway killing 16 and wounding 60. About 40 of the injured were in serious condition as a winter storm kept travelers off roads.
Baltimore and Philadelphia dockworkers union and ship owners tentatively settled terms ending eight week strike over container cargo. An ILA president said bargaining in these ports could set ratification votes and a return to work across East and Gulf coast ports by week’s end.
A Santa Monica Superior Court judge required Bob Dylan to turn over his four other children to Sara Dylan, his former wife, while keeping Jesse in her custody until a permanent custody decision. The 13 year marriage ended this year with the divorce. The children named are Anna 10 Samuel 8 Jacob 7 and Jesse 11.
United Mine Workers President Arnold Miller says a nationwide coal strike is likely on December 6 after talks with the bituminous coal industry ended abruptly. Miller said negotiations were broken off Friday with no resumption date, accusing employers of stalling while the industry claims the union walked away.

In Birmingham England a fired co worker case touched off 3000 workers in the vehicle testing department at British Leyland costing 3.6 million as 800 cars were lost to a Friday walkout. Officials say a jealous husband struck a man with the same last name as the alleged rival and was fired. The strike ended with a pledge to reconsider the dismissal.
President Anwar Sadat announced plans to invite Israel and other conflict parties to Cairo for preparatory talks ahead of a resumption of the Geneva peace conference. He pledged to invite the Soviet Union and the United Nations while warning Moscow not to block progress.
A series of crashes swept through Huron County Friday night into Saturday as first season snowfall blanketed the area. Slick pavement and overnight temperatures around 17 produced slick conditions. officials dispatched salt and cinders while snow plows battled drifting on routes including Ohio 60 near New London and Ohio 18. Norwalk Mayor Wayne Goodsite vented frustration with the weather, saying one flake is too much for me.
Linda Sharpe a 28 year old Cleveland area teacher was found unharmed after being abducted November 13. The alleged kidnapper George M. Lewis 27 of North Ridgeville was arrested following a confrontation with police at a gas outlet in Florida. Sharpe said she was blindfolded and handcuffed most of the time and that the abductor drove to Florida for gas and kept her in a mobile home near Holiday Pasco County.
Kevin Dwight, 12, of 32 N West St, has delivered the Reflector in Pleasant Jefferson Street areas since September. A seventh grader at Norwalk Junior High, he uses the route to earn spending money, learn responsibility, and make friends. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Roger Dwight.
Evansdale Iowa officials shut down the radar speed trap temporarily amid complaints of harassment and dropped shopping business. Ticket counts surged from 60 100 per month to 225 in September and 335 in October. Mayor Ron Nichols blamed over eager younger officers and said the ban is not permanent with a promise to reactivate if speeding returns.
Leroy White aged 34 was sentenced to 25 years in U S District Court Toledo on two bank robbery convictions. He faced charges linked to an April attempted robbery at the Home Savings and Loan Co branch in New London. No money was taken and no injuries occurred.
