Sixth District Court of Appeals denied the state’s request for a new trial over the 69 950 award to the Linders for bypass right of way. The panel found the Common Pleas jury verdict not against the weight of the evidence with no apparent errors.

First Thanksgiving Tells Of Gibbs Corners 1817

The diary of Seth Jennings records Gibbs Corners in 1817 hosting a four family Thanksgiving with roast turkey venison pork and Indian pudding though no apples molasses wine cider or sugar. The area later grew, Norwalk became county seat, and a supermarket now stands where Jennings home once stood.

U.S. Push Near Hill 875 As Battle Rages in Highlands

U.S. troops charged through a cratered battlefield toward a North Vietnamese fortress on Hill 875, with 300 enemy fighters estimated atop the ridge. American losses rose to about 273 dead and 860 wounded, as jets and napalm pounded the fortress and helicopters ferried out the dead.

Area Woman Dies In Crash Near Willard

A Willard woman, Nancy Steinmetz 25 of Liberty Road, died Tuesday afternoon after her Volkswagen skidded on a wet Ohio 61 two miles north of Ohio 194 and was rammed by a northbound 1963 Pontiac driven by John Sanders 21 of Norwalk. Sanders suffered facial cuts but was not treated. The crash, investigated by the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Patrol, marked the 27th fatal accident in the county this year and the 29th traffic death overall.

Norwalk Light Plant Improvement Exceeds Estimates

Six months behind schedule the Norwalk electric plant expansion runs about 100000 over the 2500000 estimate. City officials cite higher labor costs and strikes as causes while expecting completion in April or May. The project is financed with bonds and electric fund draws with two final contracts approved for Triangle Construction Canton and T O Murphy Oberlin.
