Fatal clash near Saigon claims Special Forces sergeant

A U S Army Special Forces soldier was killed and another wounded in a clash 15 miles east of Saigon with Viet Cong guerrillas. Four Vietnamese Strike Force troops died and six were wounded. Communist losses were not reported. Governor Rhodes said no extra items will be added to the current legislative session and declined to discuss pay raises or budget matters until January.

Paris reports the U.S. plan for a multilateral nuclear force encounters new opposition from France and a suggestion by NATO Secretary General Manlio Brosio that NATO should hold full military and political control over any MLF.

Hunter 71 Fatally Struck by Train Near Omega Rd

Nazareno Novelli, 71, Cleveland hunter, was killed when a New York Central passenger train struck him near Omega Road at 11 15 a m Monday. Engineer Vinton Sebring, 67, said he sounded warnings as another hunter waved from 15 feet away. Coroner Dr W B Holman said death was due to head avulsion.

Six Feared Dead in Twin Ohio Plane Disappearances

Searches resumed in two Ohio regions for two missing light planes with up to six presumed dead. Coast Guard crews scoured Lake Erie near Kelley's Island for four Parma residents believed trapped in a Cessna wreck. Ohio River divers, with Kentucky and Hamilton County units, worked six miles east of Cincinnati at Henry's Harbor. The Kelleys Island craft sank after skimming water en route to a island airstrip. The four aboard were Wayne Davidson 42 Jack Hagedorn 30 and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gumber, all of Parma.

Private Cessna 182 Overdue Rumor Quashed At Norwalk

A chartered Cessna 182 carrying four people, reported overdue from Columbus to Put-in-Bay, turned up safe at Norwalk. Ortner’s Airport spokesman said the plane shuttled Columbus to Put-in-Bay and back, and questioned reports of overdue status.

Two Meetings Planned On Northern Ohio Dispute

The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in Toledo schedules two meetings this week for the Northern Ohio Telephone Co Local 986 dispute. Mayors from about 10 northern communities join to seek ways to end the strike. a Thursday mediation session in Toledo follows a 288 to 62 union vote to continue striking.
