Celebrezze Edges Brown In Tight Secretary Of State Race
Ohio voters chose Democrat Anthony J. Celebrezze Jr. for secretary of state by a small margin but the winner awaits official canvass on Dec 1. Republican Ted W. Brown refuses to concede, citing a 9,857 vote gap and a pending statewide tally. Celebrezze campaigned across all 88 counties to stress a visible office while Brown blames late campaign blitz for the shift. Brown, 72, vows to review the official results before deciding on a recount, and Celebrezze urges election boards to guard ballots against tampering.
