Father Laments Lovers’ Quarrel Tied to Mansfield High Shooting

The father of 18 year old Tim Hoose blames the Monroeville shooting on a lover’s quarrel with William Waddell a homosexual. He says a Mansfield Malabar High School secretary heard the gunshot via a phone call from Monroeville. Hoose alleges threats and a planned job offer to his son were part of the motive as relatives cope with the tragedy.

Carter aims to respect Ford as president until January

Jimmy Carter told reporters at a Plains news conference and later a crowd that he will not act like he is already president and will avoid actions that could conflict with Gerald Ford's White House duties. He stressed the need to maintain a clear separation between the president and the president elect.

18-Year-Old Shot To Death In Monroeville

An 18-year-old Mansfield man Timothy Michael Hoose was shot to death Thursday afternoon in the living room of a Monroeville apartment. William L. Waddell, 25, of Mansfield, was arrested in Mansfield and held in the Huron County Jail as charges were to be filed. Hoose, babysitting a niece, died from a close range gunshot to the head. autopsy confirmed homicide.

Thistledown Pays Off on Counterfeit Trifecta Ticket

Thistledown Race Track paid out nearly 22 000 on a superb counterfeit trifecta ticket. Three 10 2 1 combinations were sold for last Sunday's trifecta and on Wednesday the third and fourth were cashed for a 211 949 40 payoff. One ticket was altered and the 102 number was changed to a 1. The case is under investigation and security chief Tom D Onofrio said steps are being taken to prevent recurrence.

Columbus Ohio. A new law taking effect January 1 1977 lets a single woman or man adopt a child. The measure creates a one person family and calls for annual reviews of children in care by private and public welfare agencies. The law limits adoption litigation reopening after one year and requires the consent of the unmarried father.

Treasury Secretary Seeks Permit For Thompson Gun

William E. Simon applied for a New Jersey permit to keep a Thompson submachine gun at his home in Harding Township. A Morris County judge and a county sheriff weighed the unusual request. Simon said he is a gun collector, not seeking protection, and noted he will lose Secret Service protection after leaving office. He said he has federal and Virginia licenses to buy the weapon.
