Council Tables Gulf Sign and Main Street Plan Review
Council will revisit a Gulf service station 10 foot sign on a 90 foot pole and a Main Street improvement request by Edwin Barnett at the November 18 meeting. Officials upheld zoning concerns and refused a variance while considering impacts on traffic and downtown aesthetics. A petition against removing three parking meters for a Standard Oil site was supported by Downtown Renewal Committee members and local leaders, though the council stressed no reversal of the Sept. 3 decision.
