General Talks Begin on Ohio Telephone Contract
Negotiations start between General Telephone Co of Ohio and IBEW Local 986 as the current three year pact nears expiration on Nov 25. Local 986 represents about 1,200 workers across 24 counties with John E. Arbogast of Norwalk chairing the union bargaining team. J S Minnich of the company leads the management unit.

Unpaid Fire Claim Suit Seeks 893500 In Huron County
West Virginia couple Chester and Viola Cobb sue Hamilton Insurance Agency of New London and Grange Casualty Co. of Columbus in Huron County Common Pleas Court over a fire loss. They seek 59300 in each of two claims against the agencies, plus 15000 for breach of contract, 200000 for grief, and 500000 in punitive damages, with a jury trial demanded. The policy, issued Jan 13 for 63000, allegedly left unpaid after the Nova house fire.
