Honor Society Taps 9 at Edison High School
Nine juniors and seniors were inducted into the Edison High School National Honor Society in a ceremony. The seniors are Rose Bush Susan Weitzel and Terry Van Offeren. Also named were six juniors Jill Justi Jeff Kernell George Kinnard Bob Levitt Bill Phillips and Ann Seaman.

Memorial Day Service in Norwalk Honors Local Veterans
Tom Mahalis of Disabled American Veterans called for remembrance of those who sacrificed for freedom during Memorial Day ceremonies in Norwalk. The program included color posting by the Norwalk National Guard, an invocation by Rev. P J Garcis, and music by the Norwalk High School Band. The Huron County Commissioners received flags for the courthouse memorial to WWI veteran George W. Lawrence. Citizenship awards went to Norman Berner and Debbie Ruskin, with Berner also receiving taps rendering credit. Sister Valera accepted the Voice of Democracy award for Michael Hay, unable to attend.

Edison High School holds baccalaureate for the class of 1969 at 8 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Edgar Shelley delivering the address and Rev. Osborne Hoover participating. Graduation is scheduled for Thursday night with diplomas awarded to a long list of seniors including Karen Abbey, James Babcock, Linda Bagley, Norman Barber, George Bremler, Shair Bixby, Elizabeth Blake and many others.

Firelands Branch Enrollment Exceeds Early Expectation
Administrators and counselors met at the Ramada Inn to discuss the Firelands Branch of Bowling Green State University after its first year. Enrollment as of May 1 runs 20 to 25 percent ahead of last year with 525 full-time equivalent students projected for fall and 22 full-time faculty planned.

James Ross to resign Firelands post succeeds Robert Clausen
James N. Ross director of student services at Firelands Campus will resign with Robert B. Clausen named his successor effective June 30. Ross, first director of student services, helped start the student government, inaugural basketball team and Miss Firelands Campus Pageant and did admissions counseling. Clausen, 24, has held roles at the main campus including Admissions Counselor and will receive a master’s in higher education at June commencement.
