Barbara Hunter Wins Second Ticket To Miss Ohio Pageant

Barbara Jean Hunter of Bellevue won Miss Firelands 1968 and earned a second Miss Ohio pageant ticket. She also took the talent award for Fantasie Impromptu. Bellevue contestants filled the top five with Jane Seaman and Mary Keiser as runners up, along with Susan Frankart and Stephanie Zeigler. Rainfall Tops Two Inches In Norwalk Flood Concerns Rise

More than two inches of rain drenched Norwalk from Sunday morning, with 2.04 inches recorded at the Sewage Treatment Plant in the last 24 hours. Mayor Harold Finch supervised flood response from his office as residents reported flooded basements and utilities troubles at the Light Plant.

Two Norwalk Officials Hospitalized in City

Two Norwalk city officials are hospitalized at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital. Morley Price, service director, is in satisfactory condition. Council President Delbert Crawford was readmitted Sunday after a brief discharge and is listed in satisfactory condition.

Certify Woman For County Post In Huron County

Mrs. Jane Heyman of Monroeville has been certified to the Huron county commissioners by the Ohio Department of Personnel. Her name is the only one listed, described as incomplete by state officials for lacking three candidates.

Fires Level Two Area Homes in North Fairfield

Two houses burned Saturday in North Fairfield leaving two families homeless. A 11:50 a.m. fire on Old State Road damaged a home owned by Mrs Mable Palm occupied by Florin Schaffer, his housekeeper and her two children. A later 11 p.m. blaze at a Delta Edwards Roads farm destroyed the Clinton Sparkman family home, with the 13 year old daughter spotting the fire. A Sunday chimney fire at the Lewis Conger residence caused minor damage. Secondary causes and damage estimates were not immediately known.

Power Cut Brief Outage Hits Norwalk Residents

About 200 residents lost power for 10 to 20 minutes when a tube blew in a boiler at Norwalk Municipal Light Plant. Three smaller boilers were returned to operation and power was restored. Welders worked to repair the big boiler, with officials citing no weather link to the outage.

Wakeman Man Killed In Route 113 Crash

A 30 year old Wakeman man Herbert T Sexton died Saturday in a one car crash on Route 113 one mile south of Route 60. He apparently lost control of a 1968 Mercury and collided with a tree. Coroner's report expected to determine cause. Funeral arrangements by Gerber Funeral Home and body sent to West Funeral Home Oneida Tennessee for services.
