Man graduates after 25 years from Cedarville College

George Zinn of Norwalk Ohio graduates in elementary education after a 25 year journey marked by war work, sermons, and raising seven children with his wife. He attended Cedarville College with credits from seven or eight schools and plans a California trip before pursuing a masters.

New London Reservoir Plan Seeks $200,000 Local Share

A 1.5 million dollar reservoir project for northwest Ohio would start in spring 1968 if New London and surrounding communities raise 200000 toward the cost. State and federal funds cover the rest, with bonds over 40 years possible and local control of operation. The plan includes irrigation, flood control, recreation, and a water line to existing facilities.

Truck Rams Car No Injury in Broadside Collision

Mrs. Viola Bollinger of Akron was cited for cutting in too soon after passing when her car was pushed off U S 224 by a semi driven by Cloyce Conine 31 of rural Ottawa. Her daughter Jodie sustained a head bump as both vehicles were damaged and Old State Road blocked for half an hour. Nearby Charles H Boehler 28 of Bellevue flipped a car on U S 20 near Prairie Road and was admitted to Bellevue Hospital with serious lacerations. The crash remains under investigation.

Merchants Back Bid to Cut Personal Tax Rate in Norwalk

Area merchants from the 13th Ohio Senatorial District met in Norwalk to support House Bill 480 reducing the personal tax rate for retail and wholesale merchants from 70 percent to 50 percent. State Senator Harry V. Jump expressed sympathy and backing, while Dave Mainwaring of the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association urged tax load equalization and called the 70 percent rate discriminatory. The meeting was attended by retail merchants, lumber dealers, and parts house operators.

Superior Plans A Short Layoff At Norwalk Division

Norwalk Division of Superior Coach Corp plans a brief layoff next week lasting seven or eight days. Plant manager Clayton F. Bushong says Mack Truck’s inventory re adjustment prompted the pause. Not all workers will be cut, and all are to return after the layoff. Some workers start Monday, others days after.
