Ohio teachers press lawmakers on school financing in Norwalk

About 60 to 70 teachers, administrators, and PTA members from four counties met at Norwalk Junior High School with Ohio legislators to discuss funding. Home Savings and Loan Co. of Norwalk sued Clifford Ellis and others leading to a sheriff sale of a house and lot at 6 Bank St. The winning bid of 8500 was placed by Louis and Rachel Kovacs of rural Norwalk. Appraised value was 7500 with minimum bid 5000.

Parsons Wins 700 In St Thomas Drag Race

Parson s wins 700 in Street Eliminator at the St Thomas Dragway Ltd in Ontario Canada. Jim Parsons and his High and Mighty Crew drove a National Hot Rod Association record holder to a 9.72 second quarter mile to beat all rivals in the second annual International Drag Sweepstakes. Parsons qualified in trials driving at 144 miles an hour with 16 entrants.

Manlowe Family Sells Its Stock Move on United Buckingham Deal

Denver trucking firm Rigsby Truck Lines bids to gain controlling interest in United Buckingham Freight Lines and Norwalk Truck Lines after negotiating to buy 58.9 percent of the common stock. ICC approval required. The deal follows Manlowe family control with John Manlowe as chair and Donald Manlowe as president. United Buckingham operates in 24 states and four Canadian provinces with revenue of 83 million dollars last year.

Lendrum Chairs Huron County Board of Visitors

John T. Lendrum of Norwalk was elected chairman of the Huron County Board of Visitors on Saturday morning. The panel oversees inspections of public and penal institutions including jails and the county home, with appointments by Judge Russell T. Antrim.
