Two explosions tore through the Tel Aviv Ben Gurion airport arrival hall. At least two people died and nine were injured as hundreds fled the terminal amid shattered windows and flying glass. One seriously injured person was reported.
Detroit reports Transportation Secretary William Coleman Jr says the air bag mandate proposed in 1969 for 1972 cars will not be decided soon. The industry appears to have won another round as the decision remains under study.
Sherie Darvell of Redding, aged 23, surfaced at Bluff Creek Resort near Hoopa screaming and exhausted. Humboldt County sheriff's spokesman said she appeared exposed and traumatized after a Saturday incident in which she was said to be carried off by a large hairy creature. An ambulance was summoned and she is receiving care.

Assistant Prosecutor Richard Hauser will assume the role at midnight Wednesday succeeding William Owens who resigns effective then. The five day appointment was approved Monday by the county board with a 2-1 vote, while the balance of Owens term will be set by the Democratic Central Committee on June 2 in New London. Owens’ term ends year end, and the speed move aims to avoid a gap during the next county commission meeting.

The world’s largest flag, 46 by 75 feet with 13 stars, will be raised from a 162-foot mast at the Norwalk Poppy Festival at 2 p.m. Memorial Day. VFW members and a U S Army Band will oversee the four minute raising using a large helium balloon after a rubber bladder plan failed due to a strike.
Ford gains delegate strength as he battles Reagan in six primaries Arkansas Tennessee Kentucky Idaho Nevada Oregon while Carter fights off Church and Brown in the West. The day features 179 Democratic and 176 Republican delegates, with Ford leading Reagan 717 to 541 in pledged votes.

Bing Crosby 72 was treated at Riverside Hospital Columbus for a piece of meat stuck in his throat. He was released early and did not play in the Memorial Golf Tournament pro-am with Jack Nicklaus Governor Rhodes and Flip Wilson. Crosby was hospitalized after dinner at John Galbreath’s residence and flown in on Galbreath’s plane.
