The Ohio House of Representatives passed a bill defining obscene material by predominant prurient appeal to nudity or sex and lacking redeeming social value. It draws a line between obscene content and materials harmful to minors with an 80 to 0 vote.

Youngest Ohio death row inmate to life sentence

Fred M. Esherick aged 17, the youngest condemned in Ohio, was resentenced in Painesville to life in the Ohio Penitentiary for killing his father in May 1967. The 11th District Court of Appeals lowered his conviction to second degree murder making him parole eligible after 10 years.

A&T campus violence leaves man dead as snipers battle on campus

In Greensboro North Carolina two police guards battled snipers holed in three university buildings. A victim died from small arms fire while being transported from the campus. No further details were released.

Saxbe Names Stone to Ohio Farmers Home Director Post

Two Injured At Bypass Crossing

An unidentified man and woman were injured this morning in a car truck crash at the east intersection of Route 18 and the Route 20 bypass. The truck overturned and slid 150 feet. both drivers were taken to Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital with injuries not yet known.

Lodge Expresses Hope Theyll End Deadlock

In Paris the United States urged end to 18 weeks of deadlock in Vietnam peace talks and said it is ready to discuss South Vietnam's political future with North Vietnam present. Henry Cabot Lodge told Xuan Thuy and Tran Buu Kiem that serious detailed negotiations can begin immediately as proposals show common ground. Thieu is due to meet Nixon on Midway Island June 8.
