Agriculture Department Forecasts Slight Decline in Farm Exports for 1965

UPI reports that U.S. farm exports in fiscal 1965 are expected to dip slightly from a 1964 record of 6.1 billion dollars as world wheat trade normalizes after lower 1964 harvests in Europe and the USSR. Declines in cotton and tobacco are seen, with gains in soybeans and meats offsetting some losses. The January February East Coast and Gulf port strike disrupted exports, while imports for consumption were down. Hog numbers worldwide rose 6 percent to 460 million, with the U.S. showing a drop in hog numbers amid global increases elsewhere.
