Huron County Auditor Bernard Kean said cigarette dealer license applications mailed on Monday May 24 will be processed within a one week period. Applications should be mailed to the county auditor in Norwalk and on the first Monday of June licenses will be forwarded to Columbus with all cigarette tax receipts staying in Huron County.
The Lake Erie Central Chapter of the National Association of Accountants sponsors a one day Business Machine Show on Wednesday May 25 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Americana Inn Route 57 between Lorain and Elyria. Eleven companies display adding machines calculators and IBM systems with demonstrations throughout the day. Open to the public admission is free. The Lake Erie Chapter covers Avon Lake to Sandusky including Wellington Elyria and Norwalk.
The Huron County Board of Elections reports 4016 ballots cast in the May 4 special and primary elections at a little over $1.99 per ballot. Total expenses reached $8,014.62 with the largest item salaries for precinct officials at $4,011. Other costs include $1,262.75 for voting machine ballots and supplies and $858.60 for poll books.
James J. Kovacs was elected president of the Norwalk Republican Club on Wednesday night succeeding J. T. Lendrum. New officers include Joseph Niedzwiecki as vice president Cath erine Murray secretary and Theda Niedzweicki treasurer. An executive meeting is set for May 26 to reorganize and plan the year. The group approved a float in the Norwalk Fourth of July parade and next meets at 8 p m June 16 in the Chamber of Commerce office.
