Norwalk to welcome K Mart and Ponderosa steak house

Two new businesses will rise this summer on property owned by Ohio Turf Nursery at Norwalk's north edge on U S 250. A 55 000 square foot K Mart discount store will employ 60 80 locals and include a 4100 square foot garden shop with 425 parking spaces. The Ponderosa Steak House will seat 210 and employ 40 to 60 with hours 11 a m to 10 p m and will open mid year.

Cargo Plane Crashes Near Norwalk Killing Two Pilots

A cargo plane on a training flight crashed into trees near Norwalk killing two pilots. The victims were Richard J. Simonek, 34, of Macedonia, and Edgar L. Weidner, 26, of Lebanon, Pa. Law officers investigated the scene along Zenobia Road.

Six men arrested in Huron County drug roundup

Six men were secretly indicted and arrested in a county roundup led by the North Star Council of Governments Undercover Drug Task Force. The suspects, from Elyria Willard Plymouth and Monroeville, face charges for marijuana cocaine and phencyclidine. Most arrests followed undercover buys in February with arraignments expected in Common Pleas Court.

Batboy Critically Injured In Slow Pitch Game

An eight year old batboy suffered a fractured skull at McGuan Park after being struck by a bat swung by Rick Bumb of Bismark while in the on deck area. He was treated at Fisher Titus and Lorain Community Hospitals. The incident occurred between the Knights of Columbus team and Orwalk Foundry on Diamond No 3.
