In Pontiac Michigan an unwed mother already addicted to heroin was charged with child abuse for using heroin during pregnancy. Oakland Probate Judge John J. O'Brien called the action precedent setting as the case weighs rights of mother state and unborn child.
The Ohio American Revolution Bicentennial Advisory Commission chose items for a time capsule to be displayed at the Ohio Historical Society on July 4 and not opened for 100 years. Proposed additions include a diet soda can a polyester swatch a 45 R P M record a calculator a valium tablet a 1976 penny three credit cards a $2 bill and a baseball signed by the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.
Richard Mull 19 of South Euclid Ohio is in critical condition with brain damage after a supervised boxing match during a mandatory boxing class at West Point. He collapsed and convulsed after being knocked down as officials said this is the first serious boxing class injury in memory among the 3800 cadets.
Government figures from the Census Bureau and HUD show the average price of a new American home rose to 51 600 in the first quarter, 38 percent higher than three years ago. The West and Northeast contain the priciest homes, while the South has the least expensive new houses.

The 87 year old Beverly Hills resident was dressed in a lace nightgown and placed in the car inside a crate before the crate was lowered into a nine foot grave. An open house was scheduled at League School at 7 30 tonight.
MONROEVILLE The Board of Education heard complaints about transportation supervisor Oscar Hayes from two parents and a bus driver. The Stiebers said Hayes reprimanded their son who did not make the obscene gesture, opened a bus emergency door, and scolded students on both buses. Hayes apologized, but the board faulted his judgment. Another driver, Mrs. Klading, will file a formal grievance after Hayes yelled at her following a minor field trip bus accident. She reported the incident but did not call police as required by regulations.
Willard may host a two year Christian college, with City Manager Paul Capelle reluctant to reveal denomination. He says a confirmation is pending and the college would serve resident and commuter students, seen as beneficial for Huron County.
