A Reflector survey shows seniors budgeting well over 100 for prom and post prom plans. Couples typically spend about 138 dollars with some hitting 200 while post prom keeps costs down to 60 to 70 for a boy and his date.
Norwalk High School seniors will hold a May 25 prom at the junior high with an Enchanted Forest theme. Decorations include a waterfall live trees and flowers. After prom festivities at Jolly Lanes feature a dance band bowling and food. An outing to Kelleys Island is planned for the next day. St Paul High School hosts a dinner dance at Greenhills Country Club near Clyde for seniors and dates followed by a 5 am breakfast at Memorial Lake Park Norwalk.
President Nixon told syndicated columnist James Kilpatrick in the Oval Office that he would not resign under any circumstances. He ruled out invoking the 25th Amendment to let Vice President Ford act during impeachment and said he cannot carry out duties temporarily.
UPI reports editor Mike Parkhurst says the independent driver shutdown has been 90 percent effective in California and 70 percent in Florida and Texas. He traveled to Franklin Ohio to rally support and argues media reports misstate the strike’s impact.

Former Attorney General Richard G. Kleindienst pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for refusing to testify at Senate confirmation hearings about conversations with President Nixon on an ITT antitrust case. He faces possible jail, fines, and a suspended sentence.
Washington Post columnist claims gifts to Pat Nixon and her daughters from a Saudi king relative were not reported to the White House gift office until March 28. Mrs Nixon dismisses the question telling a reporter the topic is “for the birds” and not about the group.
Norwalk plans a Monday draining of the 750000 gallon elevated water tank for its first inside inspection since 1961 as part of preventive maintenance. Residents are urged to conserve water and use laundry Tuesday or Wednesday. The plant also stores and processes water to meet peak demand. Shavings from local brush chopper are offered free at the street department barn. Payroll Savings Bonds will be available for city employees next week.
