Youngstown Child Burns In Oxygen Tent Fire

Daniel Zublena, 4, of Youngstown, seriously burned in his hospital bed when sparks from a toy gun set his oxygen tent alight. He sustained burns over 90 percent of his body. a cleaning woman rescued him from the flames.

Fleet Thief Escapes Police in Norwalk

A young thief fled on foot after police stopped a stolen car at Main Street and Woodlawn. Officers recovered the vehicle at League and Marshall Streets and pursued a foot getaway from the cruiser. The suspect, a thin youth estimated at 16 to 18, eluded capture.

Norwalk Zoning Panel Rejects Goodyear Tire Store Plan

Norwalk Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4 to 1 to deny Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. a permit to build a tire and appliance store on the Masonic lot at Church and West Main. The store would have included car servicing, conflicting with B-2 zoning. Mayor Harold Finch led the rejection with Commissioners Mason Walls Dimon voting yes against. Ford opposed. Wells County May Be Declared Disaster Area

Wells County may be declared a disaster area due to frost damage to fruits and vegetables. Extension agent John Wells and Farmers Home Administration representative Glenn Miller will assess farmer sentiment and other factors, with a decision expected in about three days. Car driven by 14-year-old hits woman and infant
