Universal announces James Brolin will portray Clark Gable in Lombard and Gable a romance about Carole Lombard and Gable. Jill Clayburgh is set to play Lombard in the film shot to depict their stormy courtship and ideal marriage.
Senator Bligh Bayh of Indiana says he is considering a renewed run for the Democratic presidential nomination. In a UPI Washington Window interview he notes many people are urging him to run and he is weighing whether it makes political sense.
The Soviet Tass news agency denounced Alabama Governor George Wallace as fiendish for saying the U S may have fought on the wrong side in World War II. Tass accused his spiritual precursors of trying to destroy the Grand Alliance of the Soviets America and Britain. Wallace suggested the United States should have aided Germany after World War I and partnered with Germany to combat Communism.
United Press International reports two newborn Vietnamese girls were born at Camp Pendleton California Naval hospital as the facility, though at capacity, accepted two additional refugees. Spokesmen say both infants and mothers are doing fine and will join their families in a few days in one of the base tent and quonset hut towns.
Partial clearing tonight with a chance of showers and rounded forecast highs near 60. Agricultural note cites minimum afternoon humidity around 50 percent and rainfall under .10 inch. A Vietnamese family reaches Norwalk telling of their escape as one of the last to flee South Vietnam before the fall. An evac plan involved son-in-law Alan Myers and two other former soldiers. The key figure in the operation is ex Army Captain James Collins.
The Vietnamese family of Mrs. Alan Myers of Norwalk arrives in Norwalk on Sunday. The Myers couple sit with Le Phung Ti Nguyen Phuoing Ha Thi Le Yen Thi and Nguyen Xuan Thi in a kitchen scene while Vinh Hoang and Ha Thi play in a new yard.
Myers and two ex soldiers recruited to rescue two families during the 1975 fall of South Vietnam. Collins flew in from Saigon with a letter, guided evacuees through Go Cong, then evacuated the Myers and Cleveland families by boat, later rescuing about 100 more refugees before reaching Guam.
Dayton Ohio touts its 90 Minute Market and Second Morning Service Market claiming 4.1 million and 129 million reach within limits. Harry Gilbert, Norwalk jeweler and city council candidate, broke his hip after falling from a garden tractor on Henry Street. He was dragged briefly before help arrived and later moved to Providence Hospital in Sandusky in satisfactory condition. His Whittlesey Avenue store remains open.
Joel Nickoli an eighth grader at Norwalk Junior High collapsed during the 880 yard race at Whitney Field amid a meet with Shelby. He regained consciousness, was treated at Fisher-Titus Hospital and placed in intensive care, with doctors diagnosing a cardiac arrhythmia. His mother advocates medical staff at junior high events and plans to contact officials about safety.
