Norwalk High Student Takes Third in National Safety Poster Contest
Norwalk High student Keith Menshouse earned third place in the National Safety Poster Contest, the highest Norwalk entry to date. Steve Schultz received a commendation. honorable mentions went to Steve Gundiach, Sandy Hart, Mary Hipp, Tim Pearce, and Angela Sparrow. Art students taught by Mrs. Maria Christy entered the contest. The Huron County Health Department issued a new permit for Maria's Bar at 75 Whittlesey Ave after suspending the previous license on October 4 for safety and cleanliness failures. The bar has been closed during repairs, with major plumbing work completed, and Deputy Health Commissioner Clarence Ellett says all orders have been complied with. a liquor inspection is being arranged.

Norwalk planners set 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for three ordinances referred by the City Council, two to meet federal flood insurance rules and one dedicating the Executive Drive Subdivision east of Benedict Avenue, which will serve St. Peter Lutheran Church. The city bought 12 new double unit parking meters for 1434 dollars from Duncan Industries, to begin a three year meter replacement program. A first Chevrolet cruiser, green, was delivered to the Norwalk Police Department to replace a prior blue unit, with two 1973 and two 1972 cars being reallocated or retired.
