Huron County Prosecutor William Owens refused to apologize for a Willard remark about drug use but pledged to publish figures. He said he will compare Willard arrest and conviction rates with other county areas within two weeks and defend his statements.
A wastebasket fire in a second floor janitor room at New London Elementary forced a 11 am evacuation of students. Fire chief Al Walters said the blaze appeared set. Smoke was cleared by a fan. no school damage. An elderly woman injured after tripping over a hose near the Norwalk post office.
A planning meeting at 7 tonight at St Paul Episcopal Church Benedict Chapel outlines Tour 75 a 400 mile ride through western and southern Ohio. Organizer Rev Elden Smith says the trip for 25 Norwalk area junior and senior high students runs June 8 to 16 with two of three training rides required.

Capelle and Republican Chairman Bernard W. Freeman discussed forcing resignation. Freeman declined comment.
The Huron County Board of Health approved Dr. Howard C. Sparks to become county health commissioner starting July 1. He will split duties three days a week in Huron and two in Ottawa, with a contract through June 30, 1976, and salary details based on full or part-time service. The board also voted to relocate health department offices to the Huron County Administration Building at 180 Milan Ave for more space and a clinic room.
Norwalk High School hosts an open house starting at 8 p m and the Huron County Humane Society holds its annual meeting at the county administration building 180 Milan Ave at 7 30 p m tonight.
