Frost denies Nixon asked for break during Watergate grilling

David Frost says Nixon did not plead for a time out to compose himself during the Watergate interview. Pat Bess the 82 year old ex Detroit officer won a partial victory as Judge Robert W Smith dismissed 700 of the 1000 dollar fine and costs. Bess had argued the property held collectibles not junk and faced jail for contempt after failing to pay. He praised press pressure and said he will add to his collection. In a separate item Fisher Foods denies starting a price war while Kroger A and P respond with competitive ads and claims of never underselling.

Woman Leaves Lions $138,337 Bequest in Final Will

The Ohio Lions Club Eye Research Foundation receives $138,337 from the estate of Clella Strong a blind Norwalk woman who died May 22 1976 at age 76. The will directed 90 percent to the eye foundation with the rest to the First United Methodist Church of Norwalk. The estate valued at final accounting 169 932 includes a farm in Oxford Township. Strong once taught school and became totally blind later in life after a hip fracture. She lived alone until her death.

Smith dismissed a suit by David Clyde a Toledo University law student of Norwalk seeking names of police informants who complained about his family's three dogs Clyde alleged a police conspiracy and hostility toward him but the 11 page decision held police must protect informant identities noting citizens may be reluctant to become involved in police matters.

Country star Buck Owens 47, of Bakersfield, wed Jana Greif 33, a violinist in his band, in Las Vegas on Tuesday. On Wednesday a horse threw him and rolled on him during a brief honeymoon incident.
