Man investigated after mother starved to death in basement

In East Lansing 27 year old David Davis is under police investigation after his mother Joanne E. Davis was found starved to death in his apartment basement. Authorities say she fasted for extended periods and died around April 22. Davis described their family as normal but authorities await autopsy results and may pursue charges.

Rench fined for open burning. plans appeal in Norwalk case

Richard E. Rench was found guilty of violating Norwalk open burning rules after 242 hours of testimony. Wayne faces possible widespread cancer after surgery

Shrink Calls Moonies 'Adult Children' At City Club

California psychiatrist David J. Schwartz criticized the Unification Church in Cleveland for brainwashing tactics and called its members adult children. He said many are sheltered, unmarried men around 25 who join religious goals young, then are separated from their old identity and molded into compliant followers. He cited 66 percent success for deprogramming and urged examining the cult as a multinational structured group with party-like discipline.
