Paint Dump Reported At Rattlesnake Creek Near Norwalk

Four United Buckingham salvage department workers were charged with littering after allegedly dumping four drums of white latex paint into Rattlesnake Creek near Norwalk. The drums held 30 to 35 gallons each and the stream appeared milk white for hours though no permanent damage was noted. Bonds were set at 31 dollars each with a May 17 court date, likely forfeited. Court records were unavailable and the men were not identified as they followed orders.

Wife of ocean-sailing pioneer killed in Ohio turnpike crash

Mrs. Virginia Manry, 56, of Willowick and wife of Robert Manry who sailed solo to England in 1965, died when her car plunged over an embankment near Exit 16 on the Ohio Turnpike in Mahoning County and dropped onto a ramp below.

Erie Air Service to Run Norwalk Huron Airport

Erie Air Service will operate the City of Norwalk Huron County Airport after a selection by city county and airport authority representatives. The Port Clinton based firm will relocate planes to Norwalk and provide hangar, maintenance, fuel, and later charter instruction and air freight services. U S Air Force Captain James H Wolfram son of Mark H Wolfram Monroeville has earned the Silver Star for a February 1968 ammo run to Kontum Airfield under mortar fire and the Distinguished Flying Cross for a high risk mission to Khe Sanh. He delivered cargo and evacuated 25 troops at Da Nang while under attack at England AFB he serves in the 1st Special Operations Wing. He is a St Paul High School Norwalk graduate with a degree from Ohio State University and ROTC commission. His wife Jean is the daughter of Columbus residents.

Norwalk to consider two amendments on wage ordinance

In third reading Tuesday night Norwalk plans two amendments to the wage ordinance for city employees. An increase would raise the service director salary to 13500, per agreement with new Service Director William V. Mount. A second amendment proposes a 7200 annual salary for a new water technician at the water filtration plant, a post to be held by Morley Price.

Monroeville Couple Hurt In Accident

A rural Monroeville couple was taken to Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital after their car left Peru Center Road and struck a tree. Marilyn Sparks was listed in poor condition and Lowell Sparks in fair condition. The 10:30 p.m. report said the officer was off duty and details were unavailable this morning.
