Norwalk City Council agenda includes a final vote on municipal bonds for a shopping plaza off Milan Avenue. A tax increase to three quarters of one percent by July 1 is planned, plus a planned unit development ordinance and purchase of a water plant pickup. The meeting starts 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
Ohio fruit growers report heavy losses from last week's sub freezing temperatures. Strawberries apples peaches and plums were damaged with some losses reaching 75 to 100 percent in certain orchards. Growers cite warm March and April as a contributor and warn fruit buds were tender during a brief frost period.
A Norwalk Public Library exhibit features a collection of telephone insulators. Curators Larry and John Burgess started collecting bottles in their teens and this passion grew into insulator collecting about six years ago. Insulators once insulated wires before underground cables, now found near railroads dumps and utility sites and sold at flea markets and antique shows with color indicating company or line type.
