Trans-Canada pipeline to deliver Alaskan gas by 1980
Columbia Gas of Ohio spokesman says if approval is granted this year a trans-Canada pipeline could be finished in 1980 to deliver 4.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas daily to the lower 48 states. The project would cost about 6.1 billion dollars at 1974 prices and hearings by the Federal Power Commission will review transport methods.

Unemployment Rises to 8.9 Percent in April
The Labor Department reported more people seeking work in April, lifting unemployment to 8.9 percent, the highest since 1941, while the number of employed rose for the first time in seven months. The April rate climbed 0.2 percent from March.

Tax Cut Boosts Take Home Pay and Rebates Expected

Norwalk Local 1379 of the United Auto Workers voted 100 to 77 against ratifying a proposed three year contract at Sheller Globe. Gould Inc plant workers in Milan approved a three year pact 180 to 57 after a fringe benefits misread was corrected. The deal raises hourly pay from 5.00 to 5.50 across three years with 50, 43, and 43 cent steps.

Suspect Waives Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity Plea
