The Communication Workers of America said a tentative agreement with the Bell system covers over 200,000 members. Members will vote over the next three days, with a possible end to the two-week strike by early next week.
United Press International reports that presidential hopefuls shift to Indiana with the ballot Tuesday. Nixon arrives for a final GOP push while McCarthy Kennedy and Branigin sweep schedules ahead of the crucial primary.

The Kentucky Board of Education votes to require public high schools to teach Negro and other minority history in senior American history courses or risk loss of accreditation by 1970. The move is described as possibly the first such state board mandate in the nation.

Dr Frederick S Cross, a Cleveland heart surgeon, visited Norwalk for a Huron County Heart Association dinner at the Elks Club. He recalled operating on Laura Fecych in 1960 and Carrie Eberly in 1964 to correct congenital defects and spoke on artificial heart valves and transplants.
Mrs. Agnes Finch snipped the ribbon marking the dedication of Norwalk City Hall attended by three former mayors Joe Dudley Edgar Tucker and Henry Young about 75 residents. Mayor Harold Finch praised the officials architect Thurman Peabody and contractor teams and thanked Walter O Mara for the Capitol flag. Capt Naomi Drake led the dedication prayer as open house continued with refreshments upstairs.

Local students and service groups are urged to assist with debris removal from the April 8 Berlin Fruit Box Company fire, with Jaycees Kiwanis and American Legion pledging support and equipment donated for a 7:30 a.m. start.
City officials examine legal ramifications of transferring ownership of Woodlawn Cemetery from the private non profit Woodlawn Cemetery Association to the City of Norwalk. Association president J T Len drum floated the idea in a Tuesday night session. The trust holds over 120000 from lot fees to fund maintenance. The non profit is state chartered and faced financial trouble in the early 1940s after World War II board members worked to stabilize finances.
Los Angeles police hold former officer Paul Preveler and his companion Kris tina Cromwell in a double murder plot to collect more than 100000 dollars in life insurance. Preveler’s second wife Cheryl was killed in Burbank April 20 and Cromwell’s husband Marlin died in Highland Park in December 1966. A .22 caliber gun used in the crimes remains unfound.
