Mrs. Wilbur Hall’s pet piranha Pat bit her finger during tank cleaning in Cowden Illinois. The wound required five stitches at Effingham Hospital. Pat now stays in an aquarium with a screened top for safety.
White House sources say President Nixon will announce Monday a plan to impose wage and price controls in the construction industry to attack inflation. Labor Secretary Hodgson urged the move on Friday and said controls would use wage criteria and national review boards.
Pope Paul VI authorized bishops to study the possibility of married men becoming priests while maintaining celibacy. The issue will be on the International Synod of Bishops agenda in Rome next October after the Pope approved a 54 page Latin document for global study.
Rescue teams drilled two six inch holes into the underground mine at NEMACOLIN to reach two trapped miners 400 feet down. Richard Randolph, 63, and Charles Gibson Sr., 64, were believed alive in a clear area after a compressor fire ignited a coal seam Friday and sent thick smoke up the shafts.

In St Paul 7500 Republicans heard two visions of the party. Reagan drew 5000 at a fundraising dinner raising near 600000 while Goodell drew 2500 students at a box lunch. They urged party unity and debated insurgent challenges to Nixon.
At Fort Benning Georgia the Calley court martial jury signaled a verdict was near after 11 days and 63 hours of deliberation by a six officer panel. The outcome could bring death prison or freedom for Lt. William L. Calley Jr. The jury recessed after 10 days of work.
Charlotte Oliver 27 pleaded guilty in Common Pleas Court to marijuana possession. Russell Oliver 30, Lawrence C. Smith 25, and Sadie Smith 25 pleaded not guilty. Bond set at 2000 cash or 4000 property for the trio. The Olivers headed west in a horse drawn wagon, stayed with the Smiths near Norwalk, and were jailed along with Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. Smith. arrests followed a sheriff department investigation.
Two deaths from a Seattle windstorm include Elwood Royston who fell from a roof while anchoring roofing paper and a Renton motorist killed when an uprooted tree struck his car. Winds up to 50 mph damaged the Evergreen Bridge linking Seattle and Bellevue.
Norwalk City Council set a 7 30 p m meeting to approve a permanent appropriation for 1971. Ambulance workers rejected a six percent raise and may strike while talks stall as the city weighs its next move.
William D. Street Jr. appeared in Detroit on charges of attempted extortion for threatening to kill the wife of Willie Horton and their two children unless paid $20,000. Street, who impersonated a dissatisfied pro football star, had earlier secured a one day Tigers tryout while posing as Jerry Levins.
