Americans repulse large Vietnamese assault in Central Highlands

In a four hour clash near the Central Highlands 300 U S troops faced 1000 to 1500 North Vietnamese with flamethrowers. The U S forces killed 135 enemies and suffered 19 dead and 51 wounded while air support aided their withdrawal threat. Huron Housing Authority Loan Action Delayed

Huron County commissioners postponed a no interest loan request from the Huron Housing Authority until a formal resolution is received. Ralph Marks, chair, sought the loan to cover operations until federal funds arrive. Authority members plan to act on a resolution Thursday night, with a decision by the commissioners next Monday.

Shiloh Man Pleads Guilty To Reduced Drunken Driving Charge

Harold Oney of Shiloh pleaded guilty in Huron County Common Pleas Court to a reduced intoxication charge. Judge Robert J. Vetter fined him 100 dollars and ordered payment of court costs. Oney was arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on April 15, 1963, with delays due to attorney continuances and the defendant’s health.

Monroeville Requests New Five Mill Levy on May Ballot

Monroeville boards vote to place a new five mill operating levy on the May primary ballot to cover mounting expenses. A 5.4 mill renewal levy, reduced from six mills in 1963, also goes to voters separate from the new levy. Without the extra levy, district balances show deficits into 1969.
